Super Rupert’s, Lights Are Gonna Find Me

2 min reading time
Super Rupert’s, Lights Are Gonna Find Me, created by Justin Draper (Edmonton, AB), is a bold, moody whisky cocktail that tastes like late-night confidence. Built on Rupert’s Whisky, it layers warmth, bitterness, and spice in a way that feels both modern and slightly unhinged (in the best way).
A generous pour of chai liqueur brings sweet baking spice and creamy aromatics, while Fernet-Branca adds a sharp, medicinal edge that keeps the drink dry and complex. Chilled mint tea cuts through the richness with a cool herbal lift, and the combination of Angostura and smoke bitters adds depth, darkness, and a lingering finish.
Finished with orange zest, it’s smoky, spiced, and intensely aromatic, like a whisky cocktail with a soundtrack.

Cocktail Flavor Camps

The inspiration behind this cocktail as explained by creator Dimitri Nikoletsos, “some cocktails are rooted in history; others exist as a metaphor for some insightful and profound revelation. But sometimes, the perfect moment for a cocktail is when your favourite song comes on under twinkling lights. This cocktail is inspired by the Alberta outdoors, and sitting ‘round the campfire with a guitar and loose memory of lyrics… Or the chilly walk home after a winters night of karaoke. Rupert’s whisky gives the vanilla and dried fruit base, supported by warm spice, a hint of campfire smoke, and the pine/mint freshness of tea and bitter amaro.
