Ardbeg Smokiverse

TL;DR: Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee, Smokiverse blasts off with a high‑gravity mash that turns up creamy tropical fruit amid Ardbeg’s signature intense peat. Bottled at 48.3%, it’s both explosively smoky and surprisingly sweet—think smoked bubblegum, tropical esters, bonfire embers. Fiercely experimental yet unmistakably Ardbeg, it’s a thrilling sip neat and a bold twist in smoky cocktails.

To craft this limited-edition release—launched for Ardbeg Day 2025—the team employed a “high-gravity mashing” technique: drastically reducing mash‑water and increasing grain to amplify fruit-filling acetate esters. Distilled on Islay and matured in ex-bourbon casks, this 48.3% ABV, non-chill-filtered dram balances heavy peat smoke (Ardbeg’s malt is around 55 PPM) with an unusually vibrant, estery sweetness. It’s the first Ardbeg to explore a mash-focused flavor revolution—evoking space travel in a glass.

Food Pairing Recommendations:

Smoky Pineapple BBQ Ribs: The char and sweetness echo the tropical-smoked burst, while peat ties in with the ribs’ smoke.

Blue Cheese–Stuffed Dates Wrapped in Bacon: Earthy, salty flavors interplay with Ardbeg Smoke’s tar and estery sweetness for a caramelized, decadent bite.

Dark Chocolate with Chili & Sea Salt: Deep cocoa and gentle heat match the dram’s smoky intensity and tropical spice, tightened by a salty zing.

Best enjoyed sipped and savoured.
