Torch & Tide

This drink was built for Hank B., one of our Flavor Camp Spirits School Founding Members—this cocktail is our way of saying thank you. As part of our founding supporter series, each member receives a custom drink inspired by their flavor preferences, personal story, and spirit of curiosity.

Hank thrives on spirits with character and cocktails with an edge. His love of Irish whiskey and poitín sets the foundation, while mezcal nods to his curiosity for the funky and unexpected. The Last Word and its modern kin (Paper Plane, Naked & Famous) inspire the structure, but here the balance is pushed darker, smokier, and more herbal. A cocktail as at home in a Dublin pub as it is after a dive, before a concert, or between hockey periods — a tribute to Hank’s travels, tastes, and tart-leaning palate.

Torch & Tide is a bold equal-parts sipper that straddles fire and funk. Irish whiskey lays down a malty backbone, Strega brings its wild alpine herbal glow, Licor 43 rounds in golden spice, while mezcal smokes through the middle. Fresh lemon slices straight through the richness, and Angostura ties it together with a bitter spine.
