about isle of harris gin

Isle of Harris Gin is a spirit deeply rooted in the rugged beauty of the Outer Hebrides. Distilled in the heart of Harris, this gin is defined by its key botanical (locally foraged sugar kelp) which imparts a gentle maritime salinity, setting it apart from traditional dry gins. Vibrant citrus notes, balanced with juniper and warming spice, create a smooth and refined profile that’s as crisp as the island’s sea air. Designed for those who appreciate craftsmanship and a true sense of place, Isle of Harris Gin is best enjoyed with tonic and a slice of pink grapefruit, highlighting its fresh yet complex coastal character.

behind the bottle

Opened in September 2015, the Isle of Harris Distillery was built to create lasting employment in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides. Its name, “The Social Distillery,” reflects that community purpose. The gin’s connection to the island extends underwater: local diver Lewis Mackenzie hand-harvests its signature sugar kelp from nearby sea lochs. Each bottle also carries the distillery’s geographical coordinates on its paper seal, marking the place where it is distilled.
