Angel’s Envy Rye
May 21, 2024
TL;DR: This falls in the ‘breakfast whisky’ category; think of it as the liquid version of Aunt Jemima slathered French Toast.
A rye like no other. If you’re not typically a fan of rye whisky this may just convert your views. However, beware, if you’re a fan of high-rye whiskies due to their spicy and green profile, this is not the rye for you.

Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Deep amber; The Bottle itself stands out on a shelf and is extremely eye catching due to the shape and design.
- Aroma: Buttery toffee, chai tea, chamomile, angostura candied walnuts, orange, eucalyptus.
- Taste & Mouthfeel: Spiced marzipan, more eucalyptus, a touch of black licorice, sweet but astringent, think Aunt Jemima slathered french toast.
- Finish: Long finish that's sweet and spicy.
- Distinctiveness: Extremely distinctive; this is unlike any other rye currently in the market!
- Overall Drinkability & Balance: A very intriguing profile, however, if you're used to traditional rye whiskies, this may not be your jam.

If you’re a rum drinker looking to get into whiskey, this is a great gateway into the category. This spends up to 18 months in Caribbean rum casks.
There is a slightly synthetic note to this expression that we can’t quite put our fingers on… alike Aunt Jemima maple syrup.
